FEELING ANXIOUS AND WORN OUT? Hypnotherapy is a wonderful way of feeling calm and relaxed again.

Anxiety occurs when we perceive a threat in the environment. Our ancestors needed what is commonly known as the ‘fight or flight’ response in order to keep us alive in prehistoric times, and remains in the brain as an unconscious process to protect and save us in times of real danger.

The physical symptoms of anxiety include:
  • Sweating
  • Shaking limbs
  • Breathlessness
  • Quickening of the heartbeat

Symptoms occur as a result of the body gearing up for the fight or flight. However, in the complex world in which we live today, many things in our environment can be seen as a threat – stressful jobs, an argument with a friend, an unexpected bill, a job interview – all cause the body to react in the same way, even though fighting or running way is not the way to deal with it!

Anxiety affects the way we think, making it more black and white and causing even more anxiety as we interpret often benign events in a very negative way. The more stressed we are, the easier it is to become stressed; on the other hand, the more you are able to relax, the easier it will be.

Anxiety is fundamental to many negative emotional states such as anger, jealousy and depression and can be a contributing factor to conditions such as IBS, insomnia, skin disorders and migraines.

Relaxation is absolutely essential when dealing with anxiety. Hypnotherapy is an extremely effective and pleasant way to help people learn how to relax and to think and feel positive again.
